Shell Deer Park is excited to host the 6th annual Strides for Schools Fun Run, scheduled for April 11, 2015. This is a family event which brings together local industry and businesses, our city, the chamber of commerce and Deer Park ISD, to make it truly a community event. The Fun Run will be held on a 3.1 mile (5 kilometer) USA Track & Field certified course and will be publicized in local media, through advertising and related news stories.

One hundred percent of your registration will go to the Deer Park Education Foundation. The Foundation is designated as a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization and your donations are deductible to the legal extent of the law. The Foundation provides funds above and beyond the district’s normal operating budget to award Teacher Enrichment Grants. These grants allow students the opportunity to achieve unlimited potential. For more information on the Foundation, visit www.helpdpkids.org.

This year’s Strides for Schools Fun Run attracted an unprecedented number of race participants and sponsors — breaking last year’s record for dollars raised for the Deer Park Education Foundation.  Over 1700 runners and walkers signed up for this all-community fundraiser to raise money in support of the hard-working teachers and students of Deer Park.

Shell Deer Park has been the proud presenting sponsor of this event since its inception in 2010.  It has grown significantly in a short period of time and is one of the area’s most popular education fundraisers that draws runners, walkers, kids, families, and local companies to participate in a morning of competition, exercise, and outdoor fun.  This year $160,700 was raised from our sponsor and $29,350 was raised through race registrations.  Shell generously matched the $29,350 which made the grand total for the event – $219,400.00.

“We want to thank all who participated, volunteered and sponsored this wonderful event, and to offer a very special thank you to Shell for helping us brighten the future of our students.  We are excited about how these proceeds will help us impact our students and teachers through our Enrichment Grants,” said Sheri Brown, Coordinator of the Deer Park Education Foundation.

Together we can make a difference in a child’s life!
